The Housing Department has started work towards the formation of the State Capital Region (SCR). For this, a Development Authority will first be formed in Barabanki. Barabanki is a part of SCR. Principal Secretary Housing Nitin Ramesh Gokarn held a meeting on Tuesday and asked Chief Town and Country Planner Anoop Kumar Srivastava to give a detailed proposal.
On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, SCR is to be made on the lines of National Capital Region. Lucknow, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Barabanki, Kanpur Nagar and Kanpur Dehat districts will be part of it. Principal Secretary Housing had called a meeting of departmental officers on the basis of this. There was discussion on making Barabanki a development authority. The chief city and village planner has been instructed to see how many square kilometer area will come under its purview. Which are the areas adjacent to Lucknow? Colonies have been set up illegally on some of these. After receiving the proposal, it will be presented before the Chief Minister.
Barabanki is adjacent to the district capital. That’s why illegal colonies are rapidly settling in its surrounding areas. Builders are bringing residential and commercial projects here by taking land at throwaway prices. Due to the absence of development authority in Barabaki, neither the map of these colonies is being passed nor it is being stopped.
