Women’s U19 T20 World Cup: Shefali and Shweta created history by sharing a century partnership, Team India made this new record
India vs UAE in Women’s U19 T20 World Cup 2023: Shefali Verma and Shweta Sehrawat batted fast in the match against United Arab Emirates (UAE). Both laid a strong foundation for India’s huge score.
The first edition of the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup is being played in South Africa. The Indian team clashed with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in their second match of the tournament on Monday. Indian batsmen thrashed UAE bowlers fiercely. Captain Shefali Verma and Shweta Sehrawat came out with a storm of runs. Both made a historic century partnership. Both played a key role in putting up a mammoth score of 219/3.
Shefali and Shweta, who came out as openers, added 111 runs in 8.3 overs for the first wicket. This is the first century partnership of the Women’s Under-19 World Cup. Shefali scored 78 runs in 34 balls with 12 fours and 4 sixes. Shweta played an unbeaten inning of 74 runs in 49 balls with the help of 10 fours. Apart from these two, wicket-keeper batsman Richa Ghosh (49 off 29 balls) also scored runs in a blistering manner. At the same time, Team India made a new record. In fact, India has become the first team to score 200 or more in the Women’s Under-19 World Cup.
India gave a crushing defeat to UAE
India defeated UAE by 122 runs in the match played in Benoni. Chasing the mammoth target, the UAE team could manage only 97 runs losing 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Mahika Goud (26) scored the most runs from UAE. She returned to the pavilion after being runout. Apart from them, Lavanaya Keni contributed 24 and Tirtha Satish contributed 16 runs. For India, Shabnam, Tithas Sadhu, Mannat Kashyap and Parshvi Chopra took one wicket each.
