West Indies Test team announced, these players return to the team
The West Indies team has been announced for the two-match Test series against Zimbabwe. Apart from Shannon Gabriel and Gudakesh Moti, Jomel Warrican’s entry has been made in the Caribbean team.
The West Indies team has been announced for the two-match Test series against Zimbabwe. Shannon Gabriel has entered this team after a long time. Jaden Seales has a knee injury. In such a situation, Gabriel has been given a chance. Apart from this, two left arm spinners were also given a chance, including the names of Gudakesh Moti and Jomel Warrican.
Seales is recovering from knee surgery and was not available for selection. Anderson Phillip was also unavailable due to injury. Shamarh Brooks has been dropped from the team. Gabriel last played a Test match in November 2021 against Sri Lanka. He has played 56 Test matches for the team. He was a successful bowler in the Super 50 Cup for Trinidad and Tobago Red Force in November last year.
Warrican also last appeared in the same series, while Moti made his debut against Bangladesh in June last year. He has been given another chance to shine. Lead selector Desmond Haynes said, “We looked at the conditions we expected to play in. We included two left-arm spinners, Moti and Warrican, who did not go to Australia.”
The West Indies team will play a two-Test series in Zimbabwe. Both the matches will be played at the Queen’s Sports Club in Bulawayo. The first Test begins on February 4, while West Indies will have a three-day warm-up match against the local side from January 28 to 30. The second match of this Test series will start at the end of the second week of February.
