The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of cold wave in some areas of the state on Thursday. Due to a new Western Disturbance developing over western Iran and surrounding areas, there are chances of rain in some areas of the state from 22nd to 24th January. According to the Meteorological Department, there is no possibility of any significant change in the weather for the next three days.
Muzaffarnagar was the coldest place in the state on Tuesday night where the mercury was recorded at 1.7 degree Celsius. The night temperature in Bareilly was 2.9 degrees Celsius, while it was 2.6 degrees Celsius in Kanpur, 3.8 degrees Celsius in Agra. On Wednesday, there was lukewarm sunshine in most of the areas of the state including the capital Lucknow and surrounding areas. The effect of cold wind was also less during the day. But in the evening the chill increased again. The effect of cold wave remained in some parts of the western areas. Due to the cold day in some areas of Purvanchal, there was no sunlight during the day.
Tuesday night temperature was below normal in Jhansi, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Bareilly, Agra, Meerut, Kanpur, Lucknow, Moradabad mandals.
