Under one district one product scheme: In view of the geographical location and diversity of the state, the Uttar Pradesh government has started a special scheme under which each district will get its own unique identity. Along with this, the unemployment rate will also reduce and people will get an opportunity to engage in self-employment. This scheme is one district one product scheme. As the name suggests, the scheme deals with such products which are the identity of a particular district. Then whether it is a thing to eat, a thing to wear or a thing related to decoration, luxury or entertainment or art.

UP has products that are not found anywhere else such as ancient and nutritious black salt, rice, wheat-stalks, world-famous chikankari and zari-zardozi fabrics, horn and bone work made from the remains of dead animals. Apart from this, asafoetida, desi ghee, fancy glassware, chadar, jaggery, leather goods are also produced in different districts of UP.

Main objectives of one district one product scheme

Preservation and promotion of local crafts/skills.
Increase in income and local employment.
Changing products in a creative way (through packaging, branding).
Linking production with tourism.
Online application has to be made under this scheme.
