In order to provide quality education to the children of laborers, studies will start from the new session (2023-24) in 18 Atal residential schools being built on the lines of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in every division. These will be operated through the Uttar Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. Committees have been formed at different levels for the operation of the schools. For the session 2023-24, the process of recruitment for principal, administrative officer, academic and non-academic posts is starting. Admission of children in schools will be on the basis of entrance test through CBSE on the lines of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya.

Entrance exam will be held in April

For the first academic of Atal residential schools, study-teaching will start in class-six (with 80 children) in each school. Admission of children of construction workers and orphans in Atal residential schools will be done through CBSE on the basis of entrance examination of Atal residential schools conducted on the lines of entrance examination for children of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya. The tentative date of entrance test is 22 April 2023.

Committees will take important decisions

In the state level monitoring committee, the chief secretary of the state will be the chairman, while the principal secretary (labour) will be the member secretary. Apart from this, Secretary and Principal Secretary (Secondary Education) of North Building and other construction workers welfare will be its members. The Divisional Commissioner will be the Chairman while the Principal of the concerned schools will be the Member Secretary in the Divisional Level Monitoring Committee. Apart from this, DM, BSA, Deputy Labor Commissioner, DIOS, JD, DD and Pracharya of Navodaya Vidyalaya nominated by Navodaya Vidyalaya will be its members. Retired Principal of Navodaya Vidyalaya, Government Inter College and Government Girls Inter College and educationists having 10 years of distinguished experience and retired Principal of Government Inter College and Government Girls Inter College will be part of the committee as nominated members. The financial monitoring committee of each school under the chairmanship of DM will be authorized to take financial decisions. Principal of the concerned school will be the member secretary of this committee while Deputy Labor Commissioner, ACF, Senior Treasury Officer and DIOS will be its members.
