Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, facing allegations of sexual harassment of women wrestlers, skipped his own press conference. In his place, son Prateek Bhushan came in front of the media. He said that the MP (Brij Bhushan Singh) will now talk to the media on January 22 and answer every question.
On Friday morning, Brij Bhushan Singh had said to answer every question at 4 pm. But after waiting for hours, at around seven in the evening, son Prateek Bhushan came in front of the media in his place. Refusing to answer any questions related to the allegations against Brij Bhushan, Prateek said that a reply has been sent to the Sports Ministry on behalf of the Federation. A reply was sought from the Federation within 72 hours, before that the reply has been sent.
Prateek said that at present a three-day national meet is going on here. There is also the AGM of the Federation. All matters will be discussed in the AGM. After taking the opinion and advice of all the members, a statement will be issued on January 22. MP Brij Bhushan Singh will answer all the questions only after the AGM. During that time, any questions related to the allegations can be asked to the MP.
It is believed that Brij Bhushan has canceled the press conference after a warning from Sports Minister Anurag Thakur. According to media reports, Anurag Thakur has asked Brij Bhushan Singh to refrain from making any statement. Brij Bhushan called the press conference at a time when the meeting of the players with the Sports Minister was about to take place.
Who was going to reveal who was behind the conspiracy?
Earlier on Friday morning, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh told reporters in Gonda that if I speak, a tsunami will come… I have not come here with anyone’s help, people have elected me. He said that a press conference has been called at 4 pm. There every question will be answered. Brij Bhushan Singh had also invited the media to his press conference by tweeting. He had hinted at revealing “who is behind the conspiracy” in the tweet.
