Despite winning the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka 3-0, the team captain Rohit Sharma and bowler Mohammad Siraj were not completely happy. India may have registered the biggest victory of One Day International cricket, but captain Rohit and bowler Siraj were left in a tizzy. This was the tease of not being able to take the five wicket haul. This was revealed by Rohit and Siraj after the match.

Mohammad Siraj had dismissed four Sri Lankan batsmen in his first 5 overs, but he could not get the fifth wicket in the next 5 overs. He bowled all his quota of overs as soon as 21 overs were over, but could not get the fifer. For this, Captain Rohit Sharma gave him the desired field. There were fielders near 4-4 slip, catching cover and batsmen, but did not get success.

At first after the match, Mohammad Siraj said, “I wanted to try and get my first fiver. Tried a lot, but you get what you deserve. The outswing was coming out well, But the wicket-taking over was a scrambled seam. I just try to create some doubt in the batsman’s mind with those outswing balls. The captain tried hard to get me that fifer, but what can we do.”

Whereas, Rohit Sharma said, “It was good to see that he (Siraj) bowled brilliantly and he deserved all those slips (to take 5 wickets). He is a rare talent, the way he has been in the last few years.” It is good to see that he has come through. He has come through with strength and it is really good for Indian cricket. We tried everything (to get him the fifth wicket) but unfortunately it did not happen. However, All four wickets are his and five more will come.”
