Rishabh Pant will be discharged in 2 weeks, but it may take this much time to get on the field
Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant will be discharged from the hospital in the next 2 weeks, but it may take 4 to 6 months to get back on the field. He will also have to undergo counseling sessions as the accident was major.
A big update has come out about Team India’s wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant. He has undergone a major surgery in Mumbai after a car accident. Pant can be discharged from the hospital soon. If reports are to be believed, Rishabh Pant may be discharged from Mumbai’s Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in two weeks. However, his rehab process will start after 2 months.
He had a car accident in Roorkee on the morning of 30 December, in which he had a narrow escape as his luxury car caught fire. He was going home to surprise his mother. Rishabh Pant had knee surgery 10 days back in Mumbai. Since then he was under the supervision of doctors. If reports in TOI are to be believed, he has undergone a major and minor surgery.
Pant had to undergo the process of major surgery on the medial collateral ligament (MCL), while the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) underwent minor repairs. Doctors believe that the rest of the ligament will heal on its own, which will take time.
BCCI sources told Times of India, “All ligaments were injured. Posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) is a cause of concern. Doctors said MCL surgery is absolutely necessary. Now his PCL will be assessed in two weeks. Hopefully , it won’t need any more surgery. So far, he’s essentially just had one major surgery.”
It has also been reported that Pant will be discharged from the hospital in two weeks’ time, after which his recovery will be monitored by the BCCI. After the car accident, 25-year-old Rishabh Pant was admitted to a local hospital in Roorkee, from where he was taken to Max Hospital in Dehradun. After several days of treatment there, he was taken to Mumbai for further treatment.
The source further added, “The ligaments usually heal in four to six weeks. After that rehabilitation and strengthening will begin. His return to play will be assessed after another two months. He will also undergo counseling sessions, It may take four to six months for him to start playing.” Thus Rishabh Pant will not be a part of the scheme of things for the ODI World Cup as well.
