It hasn’t been much time since Umran Malik made his international debut and he holds the record for bowling the fastest ball for India in international cricket. Umran took wickets whenever he got a chance to play in the recent T20 and ODI series against Sri Lanka. Although Umran also looted runs during this period, for which former captain Mohammad Azharuddin has given him special advice.

In an interview given to Times of India, when Azhar was asked about Umran, he replied, ‘Umran Malik is a great bowler. You don’t get such fast bowlers easily. The pace is decent but he gives a lot of room to the opposition batsmen. When you give room to the opposition batsmen, you end up conceding a lot of runs. Whenever he has bowled wicket to wicket with the right line and length, he has got wickets.

Azhar further said, ‘If you look at his stats, he has given 40-50 runs in his spell. So he needs to work on it. If he works on the flow of runs, means giving 20 or 30 runs in four overs, then he will automatically start getting more wickets. He is still young and I am sure he will go a long way. Umran Malik played two out of three ODIs against Sri Lanka and took a total of five wickets during this period. At the same time, in three T20 International matches, Umran took 2, 3 and two wickets respectively.
