An unmarried couple allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves from a tree on Sunday in a village under Laharpur police station area of Sitapur district. The police gave this information on Sunday. According to the police, in Darapur village of Laharpur police station area, an unmarried lover couple committed suicide by hanging themselves after not getting approval for marriage from their relatives. Sitapur Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rajeev Dixit said Ankur (20) and his neighbor Kanti (20) allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves.
He said that the incident was reported today and preliminary investigation revealed that both were in love with each other, but due to opposition from their respective families, they took this fatal step. Dixit told that the matter is being investigated by sending both the bodies for postmortem.
