Know what is the Affordable Rental Housing Scheme of the UP government? How can you avail the benefits?

The Uttar Pradesh government has launched a scheme for affordable rental housing for poor people living in cities. The name of this scheme is Affordable Rental Housing and Complex (ARHC). Under this scheme, urban migrants, poor laborers, economically weaker section people, factory workers and low income group people get affordable houses.

Under the scheme, priority will be given to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Widows, Working Women, Divyang and Minorities. According to the scheme, urban migrants or poor laborers, people from economically weaker sections, factory workers, people from low income groups will be the beneficiaries of the scheme. The ARHC scheme has been launched by the Government of India through the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan.

It will be implemented under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) to promote participation of private and public institutions for construction, operation and maintenance of rental housing complexes for urban migrants and poor.

The scheme will be implemented under two models. In the first model, vacant houses built by the central or state government through an agreement would be converted into ARHCs. In the second model, ARHCs will be constructed, operated and maintained by public or private entities on their available vacant land.
