BBL 2022-23: Hobart Hurricanes pacer Nathan Ellis takes a hat-trick against Sydney Thunder at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. He has become the 10th bowler to take a hat-trick in this tournament.
Australian fast bowler Nathan Ellis has taken a hat-trick in the ongoing season of BBL ie Big Bash League. Nathan achieved this feat against Sydney Thunder while playing for Hobart Hurricanes on Sunday (January 15). With this, he has made a place in an exclusive club. He has also become the 10th bowler to take a hat-trick in the Big Bash League.
He became the second bowler after left-arm spinner Xavier Doherty to claim a hat-trick for the Hurricanes. Who completed a hat-trick against Thunder in the 2012-13 season. At the same time, Ellis has become the second bowler after Michael Neser to take a hat-trick in the ongoing season of BBL. In the match against Melbourne Renegades, Neser got wickets in consecutive balls.
Ellis gave the Hurricanes their first breakthrough of the match. He dismissed Matthew Gilks on the last ball of the first over. The fast bowler then came to bowl in the 15th over and dismissed Oliver Davies and Nathan in the first two balls to complete the hat-trick. Interestingly, after taking three wickets, Ellis did not know that he had taken a hat-trick. Last year, Ellis was retained by the Punjab Kings for the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Rs 75 lakh.
