IPL 2023: Another former Indian cricketer associated with the coaching staff of Punjab Kings, got this important responsibility
Punjab Kings appoints Sunil Joshi as coach: Punjab Kings (PBKS) had a poor performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. In such a situation, PBKS is fully gearing up for IPL 2023.
There are still several months left for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 to start but the franchises are already busy preparing. Punjab Kings (PBKS) have inducted former India spinner Sunil Joshi into their coaching staff for the upcoming season. Joshi will play the responsibility of spin bowling coach. Please tell that Joshi is the second Indian cricketer in the coaching staff of PBKS. Prior to that, the franchise re-hired former Indian batsman Wasim Jaffer as the batting coach.
“We are thrilled to announce that former India left-arm spinner Sunil Joshi has been appointed as the spin bowling coach of the Punjab Kings,” PBKS wrote on its official Twitter account on Monday. He played 15 Tests and 69 ODIs for India from 1996 to 2001, taking 41 and 69 wickets respectively. Joshi, who played for Karnataka for two decades in domestic cricket, has also represented Royal Challengers Bangalore. He has also been a former chief selector.
Joshi has so far coached several domestic and international teams. He has worked as the spin bowling coach of teams like Hyderabad-Assam besides Oman, Bangladesh and USA. Significantly, the head coach of Punjab is Trevor Bayliss. Charl Langeveldt has been named as the bowling coach while Brad Haddin has been named as the assistant coach. The Punjab team will enter the new season with a new captain. Punjab has named opener Shikhar Dhawan as the captain for IPL 2023 after releasing Mayank Agarwal.
