The manufacturing of AK-203 rifles has started at the Korwa Ordnance Factory in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. Indo Russian Rifles Private Limited Company is manufacturing it under Indo Russian Joint Venture. It is expected that the Indian Army will get the first batch of rifles in the next few months.
On 3 March 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the AK 203 factory at Samrat Maidan in Amethi. In this, state-of-the-art rifles will be manufactured for the army under Indo Russian Rifle Private Limited. Completely Make in India based rifles are to be manufactured here. There was a slight delay in this work due to first Corona and then Russia-Ukraine war.
For the manufacture of pods, an agreement has been signed between Rosoboron Export and Kalashnikov from the Russian side, while AWEIL (Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited) and MIL (Munction India Limited) from the Indian side. On Tuesday, Rosoboronexport issued a press release informing about the commencement of manufacturing of rifles at Ordnance Factory Korwa.
In a press release, Rosoboronexport Director General Alexander Mikheev said that the Korva Ordnance Factory in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh has produced the first batch of 7.62 mm assault rifles. It will be delivered to the Indian Army soon. Along with this, the factory has the capability to provide weapons to other security forces of India as well.

AK-203 is the deadliest rifle in the AK series. It is effective in all seasons. This weapon can fire 700 rounds in a minute. Its range is 500 to 800 meters. One magazine has the capacity of firing 30 rounds.
