Former veteran batsman Sunil Gavaskar didn’t like the way in-form batsman Virat Kohli lost his wicket against New Zealand. In the first ODI of the three-match series against New Zealand, Virat was clean bowled by Mitchell Santner after scoring just eight runs off 10 balls. Virat had scored two centuries in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka just before this series. Despite being in such form, Gavaskar did not like the way Virat lost his wicket. Virat himself was stunned after getting out. Looking at his facial expressions, it seemed that he himself could not believe that he was out.

India had lost the first wicket in the form of Rohit Sharma for 60 runs. Rohit was dismissed in the 13th over and Virat then returned to the pavilion in the 16th over. India’s score was just 88 runs at that time. The way Virat is struggling against the spin bowling attack, it can prove to be a headache for the team management. Virat is not only included in the list of best batsmen of all time, but in spite of this he has been seen struggling against left arm spinners in the recent past.

Former India batsman Sunil Gavaskar, who was commentating during the match, said, ‘He (Virat) played inside the line, allowing the ball to turn enough to cross the outside edge and reach the stumps. He played this ball backwards, whereas he should have played forward. It was not a short ball. It just swung slightly and went past the outside edge of Virat, a batsman who is in tremendous form.
