Team India captain Rohit Sharma confirmed the inclusion of Ishan Kishan in the playing XI ahead of the first ODI against New Zealand. Also told at which number he can bat.
In the last match of the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh, Ishaan Kishan got the chance to open the innings and he made good use of the opportunity by hitting a double century. Captain Rohit Sharma did not play in the third ODI against Bangladesh, but as soon as Rohit returned in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, Ishan Kishan had to sit on the bench. The skipper confirmed that Ishan Kishan, who scored a record double century in his last ODI innings against Bangladesh, will play in the middle order. He said, ‘Kishan will bat in the middle order and I am happy that he will get a chance here after that brilliant innings in Bangladesh. Against Sri Lanka, Shubman Gill opened the innings with Rohit and scored a century and a half-century in a strong performance.

Ishaan Kishan will be included in the playing XI in place of KL Rahul. Rahul has been given a break from this ODI series. Now it has to be seen whether Ishaan Kishan gets a chance to play before or after Suryakumar Yadav. Shreyas Iyer is not a part of this series due to injury, in such a situation Suryakumar Yadav and Ishaan Kishan will have the responsibility of handling the front in the middle order.
