IND vs AUS: Ashwin’s fear is not in the mind of Australian batsmen, Steve Smith is worried about it
Australia’s star batsman Steve Smith has said that the team is not thinking much about Ashwin, but the left-arm spinner will be effective against our left-handed batsmen.
Australia vice-captain Steve Smith may have been practicing against Ravichandran Ashwin-like bowler Mahesh Pithia for the last one week but he is more prepared to face India’s star spinner in the four-Test Border Gavaskar Trophy series starting here on Thursday. Not paying attention.
Australia’s batsmen are focussing on tackling the threat of spin and many of India’s bowlers are helping them prepare for the four-Test series.
When Smith was asked whether the Australian team is overthinking about Ashwin, he said, “We have practiced against many off-spinners and Mahesh is one of them.” He bowls in the style of Ashwin. We are not overthinking things. Ashwin is a great bowler but we have a plan to counter him.
Left handed batsmen will have problem
The former Australia captain said that he has seen the pitch and one end of it is very dry. He said, “The pitch is very dry. I believe the spinners will get help on this one. Left-arm spinners in particular will be effective against our left-handed batsmen. One area of the pitch is completely dry.
