In rural areas of Uttar Pradesh, more girls than boys are aware about education. Girls are beating boys in going to school. This reality has been revealed in the survey of girls in the age group of six to 16 years.
Asar Sansthan conducts a survey on the level of school education across the country. In this survey of urban and rural areas is done and it is seen that what is the level of education. The analysis is done on the basis of the data obtained from the households during the survey. Asar found in the survey that more girls are going to school than boys. In government schools, 64 per cent of children in the age group of six to 10 years go to school. Of these, 60 per cent are boys and 67 per cent are girls. Similarly, the total number of school going children in the age group of 11 to 14 years is 53 per cent. Of these, boys are 51 and girls are 55 percent. There is no significant difference in the percentage of children in the junior classes i.e. in the age group of 15 to 16 years.
It is a different matter that in rural areas girls are leaving school as they grow old. It has been found in the survey that in the age group of 15 to 16 years, where only 9.4 percent of boys do not go to school, this percentage of girls is 15. The number of children studying in madrassas and other types of schools in this age group of 6 to 16 years is only nominal. This percentage ranges from one to a maximum of one and a half percent only.
