Former opener Gautam Gambhir has said that Ishaan Kishan and Prithvi Shaw should be the permanent openers of the Indian team in T20Is. Right-handed batsman Prithvi Shaw has been selected in the squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against New Zealand. He has managed to return to the team after a long time. Prithvi Shaw, who played 5 Tests, 6 ODIs and one T20 match for India, has not got a chance to play for the national team since July 2021. Strong performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and then a triple century in the Ranji Trophy earned him a place in the T20 squad.

Gautam Gambhir has told the Indian team management to stick with Shaw and give him maximum chances. Gambhir believes that Shaw is such a player who can attack the bowlers and be a match winner.
