Famous poet Wasim Barelvi has been injured in a road accident. He is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Delhi. He has eight to ten fractures from left shoulder to hand in the accident. Along with this, there have also been injuries on the face, in which stitches have been applied. His left shoulder was successfully operated on Tuesday evening. According to doctors, Professor Wasim is now out of danger.
Professor Wasim Barelvi had gone to attend a Mushaira in Bahrain. He flew to Delhi on Sunday with fellow poet Akil Nomani. Both the poets were returning to Bareilly after booking a car in Delhi. While crossing Hapur at around 4 pm, suddenly a dumper hit the car from the wrong side. Due to the sudden collision, poet Wasim Barelvi suffered severe injuries in his left shoulder and hand. His gunner and the driver of the car survived when the airbags deployed. Poet Aqeel Nomani also suffered minor injuries.
Immediately the gunner and the driver with the help of the local people admitted Professor Wasim Barelvi to a government hospital in Hapur. On information many acquaintances of Professor Barelvi also reached the spot. They took him from there to BL Kapoor Hospital in Karol Bagh, Delhi.
On getting the information, orthopedic surgeon Dr. Brajeshwar from Bareilly also reached Delhi on Monday. He was operated upon at BL Hospital on Tuesday evening. Dr. Brajeshwar told that the operation was successful. Professor Wasim Barelvi is out of danger. Soon he will be discharged from the hospital.
