The Yogi government, which is engaged in improving law and order in UP, is constantly cracking down on criminals and mafia. Mafias are being put in jail one by one. Yogi government has taken a big decision to ensure that their rule does not work even in jail and to keep an eye on their every moment actions. The work of increasing the number of CCTVs and their ‘upgradation’ will be done in 30 jails of the state. This work is also in the final stages in many jails. For this, the Yogi government has approved the proposal of the Home Department.
According to DG Jail, this work will be completed by February. With this, every activity of the mafia and dreaded criminals detained in these jails will be monitored. A proposal in this regard was sent to the government last year by the jail department. Approving this proposal, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the Home Department to release about Rs 9.76 crore. Now in the second phase, the budget has been released for the increase of CCTV in 20 other jails and replacement of old cameras.
The department has started the bid process on the Gem portal, which will be completed by April. DG Prisons Anand Kumar said that in order to strengthen the security system in the jails of the state, the work of increasing the number of cameras and connecting them with surveillance is going on on a war footing. A total of 933 CCTVs are being installed in 30 jails, out of which 670 new CCTVs have been installed while the remaining damaged cameras are being replaced.
Maximum 46 cameras have been installed in District Jail Agra. All these cameras have been directly connected to the jail headquarters so that the jails can be directly monitored 24 hours a day through the video wall in the command center operated at the headquarters. The jails in which cameras are being changed include the sensitive Banda Jail, where mafia Mukhtar Ansari is lodged.
CCTV increased in these jails
The process of installing CCTVs in Central Jails Agra, Bareilly, Fatehgarh, Naini and Varanasi has been completed. Along with this, District Jail Agra, Firozabad, Aligarh, Sultanpur, Kanpur, Kanpur Dehat, Bulandshahr, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Muzaffarnagar, Varanasi, Etawah, Ghazipur, Mirzapur, Faizabad, Barabanki, Kannauj, Azamgarh, Sitapur, Chitrakoot, Gorakhpur, Moradabad, New CCTVs have been installed in Unnao, Banda and Pratapgarh while faulty CCTVs are being replaced.
Cameras will also be installed in these 20 jails
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently sanctioned about Rs 6 lakh to replace faulty CCTVs and increase the number of cameras in 20 more jails of the state. In this way, the work of restoring and increasing capacity of CCTVs in total 50 jails will be completed. New CCTV cameras will be installed in Rampur, Rae Bareli, Baghpat, Lakhimpur Kheri, Mathura, Deoria, Jhansi, Fatehpur, Pilibhit, Fatehgarh, Bijnor, Mainpuri, Gonda, Bahraich, Etah and Hardoi. A proposal has been sent to the government to upgrade and increase the number of cameras in the remaining jails.
