Effect of controversy: National wrestling camp of women wrestlers snatched from UP? Now preparing to organize here

Due to the ongoing dispute between the Wrestling Federation of India and the players, now the national training camp for women wrestlers has been almost snatched from UP. This camp was to be held at Sai Center in Lucknow from January 18 but it was canceled due to controversy. Now preparations are being made to install it outside UP in Delhi. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, surrounded by allegations of sexual exploitation, is an MP from UP itself.

The Wrestling Federation of India had decided to set up a camp for women wrestlers at the Sai Center in Lucknow for the Asian and World Championships. Meanwhile, several wrestlers, including Olympians Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik, have opened a front against Wrestling Federation of India President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

Due to the controversy, only six out of 40 female wrestlers reported for the camp to be held in Lucknow. In view of this the camp was cancelled. SAI is considering that since the Asian Championship is to be held in Delhi, the national camp will also be held there.

According to sources, an agreement has also been reached to set up a camp in Delhi. A decision will be taken on this in a day or two. After the decision, the camp can be set up at the Indira Gandhi International Stadium in Delhi.
