Sarfaraz Khan played another memorable innings for Mumbai. Against Delhi at the Arun Jaitley Ground where the bowlers were getting help, Sarfaraz Khan celebrated like a lion after playing a powerful innings of 125 runs on such a pitch.
The All India Senior Men’s Selection Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced the Test squad for the first two Tests against Australia and Sarfaraz Khan did not find a place in it. Sarfaraz was eyeing a place in the Test team, but it did not happen and after that he played an innings which will be remembered for a long time. In the Ranji Trophy match against Delhi, Sarfaraz played an inning of 125 runs for Mumbai. His innings, played on Delhi’s home ground and on a bowler-friendly pitch, was special enough that Mumbai coach Amol Majumdar took off his hat and saluted Sarfaraz. Sarfaraz’s celebration after this powerful century was no less than a lion. Sarfaraz thumped his thigh and showed his finger as if he was saying that he would see everyone.
The video of Sarfaraz’s century and his celebration was shared by the official Twitter page of BCCI Domestic. By the time Sarfaraz came to the crease, Mumbai had lost four wickets for 66 runs. Prithvi Shaw, Armaan Jaffer, Mushir Khan and Ajinkya Rahane had returned to the pavilion.
Shaw once again scored fast runs scoring 40 runs in 35 balls. But after this Armaan Jaffer 2, Mushir Khan 14 and Ajinkya Rahane got out after scoring 2 runs. Sarfaraz scored 125 off 155 balls with the help of 16 fours and four sixes and pulled Mumbai out of the difficult times to some extent. At one time it seemed that the Mumbai team would not be able to score even 150 runs, but Sarfaraz took the score beyond 250.
