Regarding the meeting of the two leaders, SP spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said that party president Akhilesh Yadav went to meet his uncle Shivpal Yadav at his house this afternoon. Chowdhary told that he cannot tell anything about what transpired during the meeting. He said it is a family matter and anyone in the family can meet each other.
Has the SP chief gone to talk to Shivpal about the expansion of the organization? SP President Akhilesh Yadav had disbanded all the units of the party in July last year to rebuild the party organisation. In this, youth organizations, Mahila Sabha and other cells of the party were also involved. Akhilesh and Shivpal, once bitter rivals, seemed to have bridged the gap during the bypoll to the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat, which fell vacant after the death of party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav in December last year.
On December 8, after the SP candidate and Akhilesh’s wife Dimple was declared victorious in the by-election results, Akhilesh had given the SP flag to Shivpal, who had formed the Progressive Samajwadi Party, and included him in his party. In the year 2016, Shivpal, who reached the margins after the fight for supremacy over the government and the organization with the then Chief Minister of the state, Akhilesh Yadav, broke away from the SP and formed the Progressive Samajwadi Party-Lohia in the year 2018 and in the year 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he will contest from Firozabad. SP candidate from the seat was fielded against Akshay Yadav. However, he could not win.
Akhilesh Yadav will visit Telangana on January 17 and will attend a public rally of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) President and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on January 18. Akhilesh has taken a negative stand on Congress’s invitation to attend the closing ceremony of Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra in Srinagar on January 30. But Akhilesh’s presence at the rally in Telangana is being seen as an attempt to forge a non-Congress front against the BJP for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
