The Allahabad High Court has approved anticipatory bail in the case of rape of former Union Minister of State for Home Swami Chinmayanand’s disciple. This order has been given by Justice DK Singh. The court has accepted anticipatory bail on the grounds of illness and other grounds. Along with this, Swami Chinmayanand has been directed to cooperate in the investigation.
In the year 2011, a disciple of Swami Chinmayanand lodged an FIR of rape in Shahjahanpur Kotwali. In this case, the state government had decided to withdraw the case registered against Chinmayanand in 2018. From the subordinate court to the High Court and the Supreme Court, this decision of the state government was rejected.
Apart from this, a non-bailable warrant was also issued against Swami Chinmayanand. In view of this, the former Union Minister of State for Home had filed this application for anticipatory bail in the High Court. Swami Chinmayanand in his petition had declared himself innocent and sought anticipatory bail. Swami Chinmayanand was accused of raping a disciple by taking her hostage in his ashram. On March 9, 2018, the government had issued orders to withdraw the case on the case registered at Shahjahanpur Kotwali police station.
Let us tell you that now while accepting the bail plea of Swami Chinmayanand, the High Court has directed that the petitioner should cooperate with former Union Minister of State for Home Swami Chinmayanand in the investigation. At the same time, in 2018, the order to withdraw the case of the government was filed in the court of Shahjahanpur. The court of Shahjahanpur had considered the decision to withdraw the case after the hearing wrong and this decision of the lower court was challenged in the year 2018 itself.
