Alert of terrorist attack, security of all major religious places including Ayodhya-Varanasi increased

After the arrest of two terrorists in New Delhi, the security of all the major religious places of the state has been increased in view of the alert of terrorist attack before the Republic Day. Strict vigil is being maintained on all the routes leading to the religious places.

According to sources, instructions have been given by the DGP headquarters to increase vigilance at major religious places and major tourist places including Ayodhya, Mathura and Kashi. Although the security system of major religious places is already ‘foolproof’, but these cities are also kept in the category of sensitive. Intensive search operation has been started on all the routes leading to religious places. Those staying in hotels and dharamshalas in these cities are also being monitored.

Local intelligence units remain on high alert every year ahead of Republic Day. Apart from railway stations and bus stations, visitors to hotels and dharamshalas are being monitored. It is a strict instruction to all the hotels and dharamshalas that they will immediately inform about the person who seems suspicious in any way.

ATS teams also keep an eye on the suspects with the help of electronic surveillance. Vigilance has been especially increased in the districts of the state bordering Nepal. All police units are active in these districts. SSB jawans posted on the Nepal border are also conducting intensive searches. Similarly, some sensitive districts of western UP are on the ‘radar’ of ATS.
