The new management of PCB took many rash decisions, which got support as well as criticism. The PCB had approached Mickey Arthur to take over as coach but the former South African cricketer turned down the offer. At the same time, when the former Zimbabwe veteran cricketer was asked about becoming the coach of the Pakistan team, he said that he is currently busy in franchise cricket.

Former veteran fast bowler Wasim Akram has now given his opinion on the issue of foreign coaches refusing to join the Pakistan team. According to a report in Pakistan Cricket, Akram said, “Foreign coaches will not come to Pakistan as everyone fears that their contracts will also end if there is a change in the board.” If a foreign coach is not available, then the services of a Pakistani coach should be taken.”

PCB said this on Arthur’s refusal

Significantly, Arthur has already coached the Pakistan team. It is said that Arthur does not want to coach Pakistan again because he has a long term deal with Derbyshire. Arthur, 54, heads Derbyshire Cricket. The PCB said in a statement, “Arthur has a long-term deal with Derbyshire.” The board asked him to join but it could not be done due to various reasons. While the source of the board had said that Arthur wanted to join Pakistan cricket but his previous experience with the board was not good.
