Former Australia captain Aaron Finch has retired from international cricket. Finch is the captain of Australia’s first ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title. He had retired from ODIs in September last year. Finch played cricket for Australia for 12 years and during this period was one of the highest run-scorers in the limited overs format.

Playing for Australia, Finch has played five Tests, 146 ODIs and 103 T20 matches. He has captained Australia in 76 T20 matches and is the first Australian to do so.

Explosive opener Aaron Finch played 254 international matches during a career spanning 12 years. The 36-year-old captain made Australia the world champion in the T20 World Cup 2021 in Dubai. Australian veteran Aaron Finch told reporters at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, “Realized that I will not be able to play the T20 World Cup till 2024.” In such a situation, this is the right time to retire and give time to the team, so that preparations can be completed for the upcoming event.
